McDonald's operators in Tecoma will help you become one.
The fast-food industry is not really for soft-hearted individuals. James Currie, McDonald's franchise owner, has become an expert on the ups and downs of fast-food operation. Currie faced the irate protesters when he told them he is opening another McDonald's franchise in Tecoma.
The much-talked about battle took three years until last month, when the food chain opened despite the presence of protesters. Currie says, everything was worthwhile, even though there were a lot of people against it.
"It's really a long road but I'm proud of our restaurant-the beautiful structure that perfectly fits with the location and above all else it opened more than 100 local job opportunities," he says.
"I truly understand every person's opinion, however I am also aware of the needs and wants of the local residents who want to experience McDonald's and its benefits."
Over 21,000 walk-ins came in the first week, which according to Currie proves that the fast-food chain is well accepted in the area.
"It showed, we did research in Tecoma, and we saw the demand and the support from the local community," he stated.
Like a typical fast-food franchise owner, Currie has been working with McDonald's before.
"I worked at McDonald's as a cleaner and worked my way until I get to where I am now." he says.
"I was just 15 years old and this year will be my 39th year with them."
"At 23, I was promoted as restaurant manager and when I reached 26, I studied at Hamburger University in Chicago to earn the qualification of a training consultant.
"When I was a training consultant, I opened restaurants in Victoria NSW, Tasmania and other parts of South Australia. Then I decided to buy franchises and make it as a family business."
McDonald's has been the famous and most competitive fast-food franchise in Australia.
Any entrepreneur interested to become a franchisee, he definitely needs to make a financial and time commitment. Like James Currie, it has become part of his life.
