Hurry! Google Glass on Sale for Limited Time On April 15

| By

Google Glass fans eagerly waiting to get their hands on the futuristic device will get their break on April 15. Google plans to make a limited number of devices available for one day.

"Next Tuesday, April 15th at 6am PDT, we're opening up some spots in the Glass Explorer Program. Any adult in the US can become an Explorer by visiting our site and purchasing Glass for $1500 + tax," Google said in a post on Friday.

Prospective buyers will have to sign-up online. Glass will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

The announcement sent waves of excitement across the Internet, with many Glass lovers taking to Twitter to express their excitement.

According to BBC, only adults age 18 and above can get their hands on Glass. In addition, Google has restricted availability of the device to the US for now, disappointing Glass fans elsewhere. That said, Britain is likely to be first country out of US to get Glass in May or June.

Yet the one-day sale has not convinced everybody about Glass' virtues. According to BBC, Steven Graves, deputy editor of Stuff.tv said, "I think it's quite a high price but that doesn't necessarily reflect what the price will be when it is eventually released to consumers. At this stage they just want to get it in a few more hands."

Others reportedly said Google does not want average folks to access Glass at this stage and thus seeks to restrict its usage.

ABC News cited instances of users complaining about Glass, indicating that the sale may not woo as many people as Google would like. It quoted one explorer saying Glass was causing him constant headaches.

According to BBC, Google sold Glass to 8,000 individuals in 2013 as part of its Explorer programme, which it seeks to expand with Tuesday's sales.
