Ikea Recall: Bed Canopies Can Entangle Around Babies Necks

Ikea is recalling its bed canopies since children can become tangled in the product. This is based on cases where the canopies cloth can become caught around babies neck.

According to the recall information on Ikea's website, the products include the Legendarisk, Minnen bed Canopy set, Barnsling Boll, Minnen Brodyr, Himmel, Fabler, Tissla, and Klammig.

"We have had some reports of young children getting entangled in these canopies," Ylva Magnusson a spokeswoman at Ikea told Agence France-Presse.

"However there is no child that has had permanent injuries ... and as a safety measure we are recalling the products."

Ikea recommends consumers who have one of the canopies that part of the recall to discontinue its use, and return the product to one of the retailer's stores so they can receive a full refund according to the recall information.

"We apologize for any possible inconvenience this may cause, but safety is always the highest priority for Ikea," the company told the AFP.

Legendarisk canopies, which are white, have yellow cornets on the product's soft material have article number 600.506.81.

The Minnen Bed Canopy Set is also white, and has yellow curl designs on its trim.

The Barnslig Boll's article number is 201.078.30, and is white, with red on its tip.

The Minnen Brody is listed as 501.076.78, and comes in white with leaf designs.

Himmel Canopies have peaked tops in white and blue, green, blue, and pink.

The white and blue type's article number is 201.758.38. The blue one is listed as 901.376.40, with pinks as 101.376.39.

Fablers have the article number 201.308.78, and is white with dots and irregular triangles on the material.

The Tissla branded canopies are pink with pink laces on the material, and are listed as 902.367.15.

Klammigs are 928.165.95, and are yellow, and have poles attached to the bed.
