Samsung has announced the launch of their new product, the Chromebook 2, which will be released in April.
The Chromebook 2 will feature a new faux-leathered covering, as opposed to silver plastic used on the previous model, the Samsung Chromebook Series 3, according to PC Magazine.
The new Chromebook will be sold in two different models, Digital Spy reported. One model will come in 11.6-inch frames, and the other model will come in 13.3-inch frames.
According to The Verge, the 13.3-inch model will be sold at $399.99, and is one of the most expensive Chromebook models to date. The model includes a variety of features such as a 1920 x 1080 screen, 16GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa processor. Samsung has promised that the battery life for the model will be 8.5 hours.
The 11.6-inch model will be sold at $319.99, and features a slightly slower processor, The Verge reported. The model also includes a 1366 x 768 screen and eight hours of battery life. However, the model has the same storage, port selection and RAM as the larger model, and weighs about 2.43 pounds.
The larger model will be available in a dark gray, while the smaller model will be released in black or white, PC Magazine reported. The faux-leather cover on both models features false stitching along the edges and a rubber finish that provides a more leathery feel.
The Chromebook 2 models have received Google's approval to feature abilities from Google's video chat tool, according to PC Magazine. These features include 720p webcams, dual-array microphones for better sound and improved graphics processing for smoother video.
Samsung has been pushing for a greater use of Chromebooks in education and business, PC Magazine reported. Chromebooks are currently used in over 4,000 schools in the U.S. The Chromebook 2 11-inch will be released for education, while the Chromebook 2 13-inch will be used for business.
