IHOP's National Pancake Day gives customers a short stack of buttermilk pancakes at no charge when they stroll through the company's doors Tuesday according to information on the company's website.
"There are so many children that are neglected and there's so many children that need help these days," Reverend Thomas told television station WALB. "So we need to do what we can for our babies and do what we can for those are not able to do for the babies," Thomas told WALB.
All money given between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. will go towards the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and assisting children who need healthcare WALB reported. Donators can give amounts such as $1, $10, and 50 cents.
Money will also go towards funding supplies, tools, and offerings to help children through sickness and illness the Children's Network Hospital website said.
National Pancake Day began Feb. 1, and ends Tuesday. Miracle balloons are also available at IHOPs taking part in the good cause for $1, and $5. Participants will get a $5 coupon that they can use the next time they go to a location.
Various other charitable organizations depending on where the franchise restaurant chain has locations are also participating according to information on its website.
The promotion began in 2006, and the company has made a total $13 million in funds since the day of giving started.
According to television station WBNG, IHOP has supplied 22 million pancakes in its ninth year of the promotion. IHOP last held a Free Pancake Day Feb. 5.
According to its website, IHOP hopes to raise $3 million for the Children's Networks of hospital.
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals collaborates with Walmart and Sam's Club, IHOP, FRED's, Dairy Queen, and Rite Aid according to the system's website. IHOP been around for more than 55 years.
