Mobile World Congress 2014: Samsung Galaxy S5 Debuts in Leaked Photos

| By

The Mobile World Congress is a great place to show off some of the newest and best mobile devices of 2014. As the event continues, though, the Samsung Galaxy S5 may be taking the world by storm.

Samsung announced that it will likely be unveiling its new smartphone on Monday evening, according to The Washington Post. That's bad news for other smartphones. It's becoming harder and harder to make an impression at the Mobile World Congress as big names take center stage.

Yet while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is still waiting for its debut, photos of the new smartphone have been leaked ahead of schedule. According to Techcrunch, a massive leak from two different sources has revealed a device that remains very similar to previous generations. It has a fingerprint scanner, larger display and strongly dimpled back. You can see the leaked photos for yourself here.

The phone isn't all that Samsung has for the event, though. On Sunday, the company unveiled its second-generation smartwatch lineup, which included the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo, according to PC magazine. The two watches run Tizen instead of Android, which allows them to be standalone devices. The watches will be compatible with dozens of Samsung smartphones, and sport 1 GHz dual-core processors.

Samsung has the real muscle in the mobile world, currently. In fact, the only other company that comes close to matching it is Apple. Yet while the Galaxy S5 is making its debut at the event, the iPhone 6 is being held for a later release in 2014.
