Microsoft introduced three new Bing Windows Phone apps on Tuesday, Feb. 18 that actually talk to Windows.
The three apps for Windows Phone include Health & Fitness, Travel, and Food & Drink, according to PCWorld. Microsoft has also made updates to its Bing Finance, News, and Sports apps.
Bing Food & Drink helps users find food and drink recipes, CNET reported. The app can retrieve over 600,000 recipes from cooking sites such as Bon Appetit, BigOven, Epicurious, Food52, and AllRecipes.
The Food & Drink app can also help users find their favorite drinks, according to Bing. The app displays an encyclopedia with information on millions of bottles of wine, millions of tasting notes and popular cocktail recipes. Users can browse cocktails by glass type, flavor profile, ingredients, and other areas.
The Health & Fitness app provides active tracking and fitness goals for users, according to The Verge. The app includes a GPS tracker that can track runs and other cardio activities.
The app also includes lists of exercises, a diet tracker, and a symptom tracker, PC World reported.
The Bing Travel app lets users book flights and hotels, tracks flight status, and helps users find attractions while on trips, according to CNET. The app gets much of its information from travel-guide sites Frommer's and TripAdvisor, which lets people leave reviews of attractions and hotels.
The Travel app helps users in finding fun destinations by displaying current weather conditions and currency conversion rates, Bing reported. Travel and professional photos are provided for each destination.
The updates to the news, sports, weather, and finance apps were made for the Window 8 tablet and PC so that the settings and content of these apps would sync with the Bing apps, according to CNET. Many existing apps will also be getting new features, such as mortgage calculator in the Bing Finance app. More information on the updates can be found at Bing's blog.
