Dunkin Donuts announced that it is planning to open five new stores in Rochester, NY, with one in downtown Rochester.
Two restaurants were recently opened in Rochester, according to The Rochester Business Journal. One of the Dunkin Donuts' is located on Main Street in Palmyra, Wayne County, and the other on Jefferson Road in Henrietta.
Dunkin Donuts field marketing manager Alisa LaPlante said the downtown restaurant will be close to Four Corners, Democrat and Chronicle reported, and will experience competition with nearby restaurants such as Tim Horton's Cafe and Bake Shop and Java Joe.
LaPlante stated the decision to open a downtown location is due to the development of Midtown.
"We're excited to be part of a lively business community," LaPlante said. "We'll be looking for other opportunities as well."
Cherylanne Thomas, managing director of marketing for Richfield Hospitality in Rochester, stated the new Dunkin Donuts location is expected to be open seven days a week, PostBulletin.com reported. Thomas also said Rochester's franchise, Donuts Non Traditional LLC, plans to use the company's latest design concept for this location.
"It'll feel more like a café," Thomas said.
Thomas also discussed the benefits the new restaurant can provide for the hotel properties managed by Richfield.
"We want to make sure the tenants we have are viable for Mayo's DMC plans," Thomas said. "Obviously, Dunkin is a great brand. They were looking to lease the area. It seemed like a good fit."
Franchisee Luis Ribiero, owner of 28 Dunkin Donuts stores in the Rochester area, plans to open more stores, according to The Rochester Business Journal. One of the 20-plus locations planned to open will be in downtown Rochester this summer.
"I am excited to open these restaurants as Dunkin Donuts continues to expand its presence in the Greater Rochester area," Ribiero said. "We look forward to further expanding the brand in the region and serving our loyal guests who live, work and visit here."
