Sweet Leaf Tea Recalls 16-Ounce Bottles Due To Possible Presence of Glass Fragments

| By

The Sweet Leaf Tea Company has announced in a press release that it is voluntarily recalling the Sweet Leaf Tea in 16-ounce glass bottles.

The recall is out of caution due to the possible presence of glass fragments in the bottles.

The Sweet Leaf Tea said that the possible glass fragments are due to the glass breaking during the filling process.

The company has already received four complaints of glass in the product, but no injuries were reported.

The Sweet Leaf Tea products that were being recalled were distributed between February 27, 2015, and December 6, 2015.

Only the 16-ounce glass bottles are affected by the recall.

Consumers are advised to look for the manufacturing code on the shoulder of the bottle or on the shipping case.

This will help consumers identify if the product is part of the recall.

CNN Money said that 1.5 million bottles of Sweet Leaf Tea glass bottles are being recalled.

Six flavors of iced teas are affected, which are raspberry, half and half lemonade tea, original, green tea with citrus, peach, and mint and honey.

The recall does not affect Sweet Leaf Tea's plastic products.

Sweet Leaf Tea said that they are committed to ensuring the quality and safety of all their products.

The company is already removing the affected products from store shelves.

Consumers who have any of the affected glass products are advised not to drink it as it can potentially cause injury or cut when ingested.

They can contact the Sweet Leaf toll-free number 1-877-832-5323 from Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, for replacement.

Consumers can also return the product to the store where they purchase it for a refund.

Sweet Leaf Tea said that the recall is being conducted with the knowledge and cooperation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
