Texas Restaurant Boss Saves 19-Year-Old's Life; Sells Restaurant to Help Fund Waitress's Brain Tumor Surgery (VIDEO)

A Texas restaurant manager is selling his business to help fund an employee's brain tumor surgery KHOU reported Friday.

"I'm not going to let this happen," Michael De Beyer, also the man in charge is giving up the Kaiserhof Restaurant in Montgomery, Texas he has run for 17 years KHOU reported.

"I couldn't live with myself," De Beyer told KHOU. "I would never be happy just earning money from my restaurant knowing that she needs help." De Beyer is also interested in spending more time with his family KHOU reported.

Brittany Mathis came down with the tumor in December that began as a rash on her leg according to KHOU. She has not applied for Affordable Healthcare Act Health Insurance, and has had to discontinue treatment because medical bills are increasing KHOU reported.

"I went to the hospital and found out it was my blood clotting," Mathis told KHOU. "So, they wanted to keep me and do CAT scans and MRIs and the next day they came in and told me I had a tumor," KHOU reported.

"I have my good days and my bad, I get headaches," Mathis told KHOU. "I really think it's an amazing blessing and can't thank him enough and his family," Mathis told KHOU. "Never thought that anybody would do that and he did and it makes me feel really good," Mathis told KHOU.

Brittany's father John passed from a brain tumor in 2000 that appeared unbeknownst to anyone KHOU reported. The tumor surprisingly erupted KHOU reported.

"I guess sort of the same thing Brittany is going through," Barbara Mathis, Brittany's mom told KHOU. "I just want her to get help," Barbara told KHOU.
De Beyer has previously put the restaurant on the market, and rejected a $1.3 million deal KHOU reported.

"Here's a family, they really work hard they have a lot of stuff against them in the past and they are not holding their hand open they didn't even ask anybody for help," De Beyer told KHOU.
