Several retailers opened Thursday for post Christmas sales crowds USA Today reported Wednesday.
"This is an especially big time for people who got gift cards to come and spend on what they didn't get for Christmas," says Sarah McKinney, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman.
Customers can redeem these at places like Macy's, Target, and Wal-Mart.
"Indeed, it's the single-most popular day to redeem Target gift cards," another spokesman Antoine LaFromboise told USA Today.
Macy's is offering a buy one get one free promotion on men's dress shirts, and designer suits USA Today reported.
Sears customers can get a maximum of 40 percent off on appliances that cost more than $499 with a Sears card.
Kmart customers enrolled in the retailer's "Shop Your Way" program are eligible for 50 cents a gallon on purchases of Procter and Gamble products totaling over $25.
Target is offering 50 percent or less on particular toys, and 40 percent on several clothes.
Wal-Mart shoppers can get inventory 25 percent to 50 percent off on many products. These include the $199.96 Nintendo 3DS XL game console, which comes with a $50 Wal-Mart gift card.
J.C. Penney has $10 coupons that can be used with orders totaling at least $25. Customers can also obtain a coupon from the retailer's website. Both expire Saturday.
Toys R Us has a buy one, get one deal on popular toys up until Jan. 1, such as Skylanders figures, video games and other components.
Kohl's customers who expend less than $100 get a 15 percent discount. Orders more than $100 get an extra 20 percent discount.
Nordstrom's has a 33 percent discount on men's wear.
