Customers to a soon-to-be built Cave Creek, Ariz. McDonald's will be able to halt their horses at the franchise restaurant chain location's new hitching post The Arizona Republic reported Friday.
The news comes after the town's council members voted to accept a site plan for the project on the northern end of Carefree Highway and 54th street.
"The McDonald's site plan not only met all of the requirements of the Cave Creek ordinance but also added some additional features in recognition of the uniqueness of the town of Cave Creek," Paul Gilbert, an attorney for the owner of the McDonald's told The Republic. The town council accepted a general plan amendment and rezoning so the project could come to fruition.
The location will be McDonald's second restaurant with the new dig since the McDonald's location on 24th Street and Baseline Road, close to South Mountain Park featured one.
"I live in that area and I can guarantee that you'll see horses at that hitching post, probably on Saturday nights while residents are inside getting a milkshake or - one of my favorites - the fish sandwich," Cave Creek Councilman Ernie Bunch told The Republic.
Officials expect to begin building the new restaurant in three months, and open it three months after.
According to The Republic, residents did not favor the building because they felt it did not fit with what Cave Creek represents.
Residents voted in support of the project during March's election after previously attempting to discontinue project negotiations via a question on the ballot. The process would have denied the council's vote.
Owner, Park West Development seems to have found success after over five years of attempts to put a commercial business in the space.
McDonald's has over 30,000 locations throughout the world according to information on the company's website.
