General Motors is pulling back more than 60,000 Chevrolet Malibu's for two separate issues The Car Connection reported Friday.
The company's 2014 Chevrolet Malibu have an issue with the car's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system because the functions might not work correctly subsequently giving drivers clouded windshields.
"The system will revert to the setting selected when the vehicle was last driven," General Motors said in a statement Car Connection reported. "If that setting was not defrost mode, it cannot be selected and the driver may be unable to clear the windshield, which could lead to decreased visibility."
The issue impacts 44,406 cars distributed in the United States. One-thousand thirty-four were dispersed in Canada, with 676 in Mexico.
The wiring on eight-way power seats in 2013 Chevrolet Malibu's are being recalled because wiring could rub against the seat's fabric.
"(The wiring harness could wear against the seat frame, rubbing through the insulation and exposing a circuit on the harness If that happens, the circuit could short out) which may result in an open circuit breaker, unintended movement of the seat, sparking, flickering lights, melted wiring, smoke, or a fire in an unattended vehicle."
The problem involves 14,930, the majority of which are in the United States. Thirteen others are in Canada, and seven in Mexico.
Drivers with affected vehicles will be able to bring them to a Chevrolet dealership for an inspection and possible repair free of charge.
Those with the HVAC issue will be able to have the component re-programmed at a Chevrolet dealership for free.
Consumers who have an affected vehicle, and need further assistance can also contact Chevrolet customer service at 800-950-CHEV or 800-263-3777. Those in Canada who speak French can call 800-263-7854.
General Motors has not indicated when it will inform drivers if they have vehicles with the defects.
