Toyota is pulling back 33,000 vehicles because the engine could suddenly stop the company said in a press release Thursday.
"In the involved vehicles, engine valve springs made by one of two suppliers could develop cracks and break over time due to improper maintenance of manufacturing equipment used to make the part," Toyota said in a statement. "If this occurs, abnormal noise and rough engine performance can be noticed. In some cases the engine could fail and stop while the vehicle is being driven."
The vehicles being recalled include 2013 model pickup trucks, and commercial vehicles across the world. These also include, the land cruiser prado mid-size sports utility vehicle, and many other bigger ones. Four-thousand four-cylinder tacoma pickup trucks are being recalled in the United States Reuters reported.
Toyota will inform owners who have affected vehicles in the mail. Elaborative information is listed on the company's recall website in the meantime. Drivers can also contact the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331.
The company's news is the latest development in a span of recalls it has had over the past few months including 803,000 2012 to 2013 Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, and Venza models because of an issue with their air conditioning condenser unit a company press release reported.
Six hundred and fifteen thousand Sienna minivans were also recalled in September because of an issue with their levers where they can move out of park mode BBC News reported.
Over 780,000 RAV4 and Lexus HS 250h vehicles were also pulled back in August because of an issue with their suspensions, after it was not fixed last year. In total, six million vehicles have been recalled so far this year, including 2.2 million in the most recent weeks. Drivers with affected vehicles could bring their car to a dealer so Toyota employees could put a new intelligent power module within the inverter assembly in the recalled vehicles.
