Famous Dave Welcomes Back its Founder, Part of Company's Reorganization

| By

Famous Dave's of America, Inc. has just announced in a press release that it is welcoming back its founder "Famous Dave" Anderson.

His return to the company is part of a reorganization that includes having several new members to its board of directors and executive management team.

Anderson, who last served as a spokesperson for the company before resigning in 2014, said in the press release that his decision to leave was due to the difference in vision between him and the previous management team.

"It was a difficult decision when I left the Company," he said.

He adds in the press release that he is excited to be back as "Famous Dave" again.

"I am excited to be Famous Dave again and back at the company in an expanded role focused on re-energizing our guest's experience by serving the highest quality authentic Bar-B-Que, with world-class hospitality," he said.

Nation's Restaurant News adds that Anderson's return represents a symbolic moment for the chain that is struggling with weakness in sales.

The company is coming off of two years of chaos and turnovers in its management team and board of directors.

Nation's Restaurant News adds that in 2014, Famous Dave's has hired Ed Rensi, an executive at McDonald's, to be its CEO.

The move though didn't lift the company's sales.

Nation's Restaurant News adds that same-store sales decreased by 9.2 percent in the second-quarter at corporate locations.

It fell nearly 14 percent on a two-year basis.

Adam Wright, the interim CEO of Famous Dave's said in the press release that Anderson will have an expanded role with the company.

He said that Anderson will not only help the company craft more of its "award-winning Bar-B-Que," he will also be helping the company rebuild its culture and improve the guest experience.

"Dave has always believed that you can't build a great company without great people, and he will be working hard to inspire and educate our team and local pitmasters," he said in the press release.
