‘Doctor Who’ Season 9: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Rumored As New Companion But Not Maisie Williams

| By

A rumor suggests a "Game of Thrones" actress could take over as new companion upon Jenna Coleman's exit after "Doctor Who" season 9, but it's not Maisie Williams.

Citing The Daily Star, Metro UK said actress Faye Marsay is the "hot favorite" to star opposite Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor after the current season.

"Everyone thinks Faye will be a great sidekick and the fact that she's been on 'Doctor Who' as another character before doesn't matter," a source reportedly told the publication.

Whovians may recall that Marsay appeared as Shonda in last year's Christmas special, "Last Christmas." As for her role in "Game of Thrones," she portrays the Waif, an acolyte of the Faceless Men Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) is with in the House of Black and White in Braavos.

But "Doctor Who" fansite Kasterborous said "the jury's still out" considering the rumor's source.

Back in June, the 28-year-old actress told Radio Times how she'd like to go back on the show.

"If they asked me to come back I would do it in a heartbeat, but if they don't, I'm lucky to have done it in the first place."

"And Peter Capaldi I totally fancy," she added. "I would snog his face."

As for Maisie Williams, those who tuned in to "Doctor Who" season 9 episode 5 already know a bit more about her character. Many are wondering if she'd ever come back to the show after her next appearance in next week's episode.

"I hope she comes back," the 18-year-old actress said in a BBC interview.

"Everyone's been saying, 'does she come back?' the crew only know how much is in the block. I hope so, but I have no idea."

"I know they've had characters similar to Ashildr that have come back in future episodes and future series, so we'll see," she added.

"I think there's a good chance!"

In any case, catch Maisie Williams once again when "Doctor Who" season 9 returns with episode 6 "The Woman Who Lived" Saturday, Oct. 24.
