Volkswagen is recalling 3,594 of its 2013 and 2014 S6, and S7 Audi models because of a fuel leak The National Higway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
"Due to manufacturing tolerance issues, a fuel line in affected vehicles can become damaged over time," Volkswagen said in a letter on the administration's website. If this happens, it could result in a fuel leak. Leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source can lead to a fire."
According to the document's drivers notified dealerships that they smelled fuel in the recalled vehicles in April.
The issue was given to Audi AG's product safety committee who subsequently chose to instill the recall Sandvig said in the recall.
"After thorough investigation and analysis, it was determined that, due to manufacturing tolerance issues, a fuel line in (the) affected vehicles could become damaged over time," Chris Sandvig, General Manager of Compliance at Volkswagen said in letter to the administration.
