Northrop Grumman Corporation, a leading global security company, will be undergoing structural changes to better align the company's businesses, according to a press release issued by Northrop Grumman.
The company also announced that it will be appointing Gloria Flach as its new COO.
Northrop Grumman says in the press release that the changes the company will implement will include the streamlining of business sectors from four to three.
The company also mentioned that the current Electronic Systems, Information Systems and Technical Services sectors will be merged to create two new sectors.
One of the sectors to be created will be the Mission Systems sector, where the Electronics Systems sector and the businesses from the Information Systems sector are combined, according to the press release.
This sector will be headed by Kathy Warden, the current corporate vice president and the president of the Information Systems.
Northrop Grumman adds in the press release that the service portfolio side of the Information Systems will combine with the Technical Services sector and create the Technology Service Sector.
Chris Jones, the company's current corporate vice president and president of Technical Services, will be the head of the new sector.
Wes Bush, the chairman, CEO, and president of Northrop Grumman said in the press release that the changes are to better align the company with the growing needs of its customers.
"These changes align more closely with the evolving missions of our customers in the global security markets we serve," he said. "I am pleased that we have strong leadership in place and I look forward to working with them to continue to deliver top performance for our shareholders, customers and employees."
Northrop Grumman also said in the press release that electronic attack business, currently in the Aerospace Systems sector, will also be transferred to the Mission Systems sector.
The military and civil space hardware business that is currently reporting to the Electronic Systems sector will move to the Aerospace Systems sector.
Loren Thompson, the COO of Lexington Institute, told Reuters that Northrop Grumman's changes follow the lead made by other weapons maker.
He said that the changes reflect the Pentagon's increased focus on integrated solutions that combines cyber, electronic warfare and space.
"The Pentagon does not want a series of stovepiped missions. It wants integrated solutions," he told Reuters.
Northrup Grumman said in the press release that Flach brings more than thirty years of experience to her new role.
She is currently the corporate vice president and president of the Electronics Systems sector.
