Nissan is calling back at least 188,302 vehicles because of defective brakes, Reuters reported Wednesday.
"A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect," the administration said in its report. "In the affected vehicles, during light braking on rough roads, the antilock brake system (ABS) brake pressure output software may lead to an increase in stopping distance."
Their transmission fluid lines may also come apart from the vehicle's transmission fluid cooler, which can cause the fluid to escape. This therefore results in the car losing power and not turning on, and the possibility of a driver rear ending another car, or not being able to stop at an intersection. No accidents or injuries have been reported.
The vehicles affected include the 2013 and 2014 Nissan Pathfinders, 2013 Infiniti JX35 sports utility vehicles, and 2014 QX60 SUV's. These include vehicles in countries like the United States, Canada, China, Russia, and Mexico.
Drivers with affected vehicles will be informed over the next two months. Dealers will also re-configure their vehicle's brake system free of charge Reuters reported.
According to NBC News, the repairs are not expected to take very long since the company just needs to re-configure their current ABS controllers NBC News reported.
The news come after the company recently recalled over 900,000 vehicles because their accelerator sensors were not working therefore making the cars come to a crawl or standstill.
The company has also had problems with its crossover vehicle, and Titan pickup truck. These consisted of defective transmissions, issues with brakes, airbags, and incorrect labeling on vehicles.
The body of the company's 2015 Titan Pickup Truck is expected to be wider in order to compete with Ford's F-150 truck model, and increase sales.
The vehicle will be available in extended cab, and crew cab models.
