Staples, Inc. will be closing its stores on Thanksgiving Day while offering amazing deals on Staples.com, allowing customers to still shop at the convenience of their own homes, according to a press release issued by Staples.
The deals at Staples' store will begin on Black Friday 6 a.m.
Demos Parneros, the president of Staples' North American stores and online, said in the press release that the company wants their "customers and associates to enjoy Thanksgiving Day their own way."
"On Thanksgiving Day, customers can shop from home on Staples.com and then continue their shopping in stores starting at 6 a.m. on Black Friday," he said. "Whether our customers like the convenience of shopping online, in our stores or a combination of both, Staples will have amazing products at great prices throughout the holiday season."
Staples said in the press release that beginning in early November, the company will be offering special holiday savings on huge assortments of the latest tech devices and other business-related essential products to both its stores and online.
The company will also be offering easy-to-create, personalized gifts from Staples Copy and Print, with the option to pick it up on the same day.
Staples said in the press release that this allows their customers to enjoy the company's great deals without waiting for the week of Black Friday.
NBC News adds in their report that Staples will be first major retailer this year to say that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
The announcement goes against the trend as stores in recent years have been adding more opening hours to their stores, making them open closer to Thanksgiving Day.
Last year though the trend saw some reversal as more than 50 large retailers stay closed on Thanksgiving, according to NBC News.
Among the stores that closed on Thanksgiving Day last year, are Costco, Lowes, Nordstrom, REI, Saks, Cabela's, and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
