Cracker Barrel is offering a new-low calorie menu.
According to the company's website, the new "Wholesome Fixin's menu" offers breakfast, options for under 500 calories, and lunch and dinner selections for under 600 calories. The 11 new offerings are made with fresh ingredients, and have added flavor.
Cracker Barrel Senior Vice President of Marketing Chris Clavarra said the new menu choices have been in the works for some time.
"We worked for over a year to develop the Wholesome Fixin's Menu to provide our guests with meal options that are lighter, full of flavor and a great value," Ciavarra said. "It took a while because we didn't want to just take things out, we wanted to stay true to handcrafted, quality ingredients, and we wanted to put in flavor, texture, great ingredients and ample portions.
"From Egg n' Cheese Sliders to Spice Rubbed Pork Chop, Pecan Crusted Catfish, and four new side items, Wholesome Fixin's are now a permanent addition to Cracker Barrel's core menu," he said.
The new menu was made to meet the increasing need customers had for healthier options on the menu Cracker Barrel reported. The company wanted to make items that were light, and lower calorie without doing away with their signature home-style flavors, which have become a familiar staple to Cracker Barrel customers.
The new items on the menu include The Good Morning Breakfast which includes two scrambled up Egg Beaters with a choice of turkey bacon or turkey sausage, tasty cheese grits, sliced tomatoes, and a side of fresh fruit.
There is also the multi-grain french toast which is grilled topped with fresh fruit, and served with Honey Citrus Yogurt or sugar free syrup. Other breakfast items, which are served all day include eggs n' cheese Sliders, and a fresh fruit n' yogurt parfait breakfast.
Lunch and dinner choices, which are served after 11 a.m. include a buttermilk oven fried chicken breast, pecan crusted catfish, pepper grilled sirloin steak, and spice rubbed pork chop, Cracker Barrel is also offering four new sides in fresh steamed broccoli, mixed seasonal vegetables, cheese grits, and fresh seasonal fruit.
