It's been a year now since Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes welcomed baby Esmeralda Amada into their life. The daughter of the power couple recently celebrated her first birthday and only about 20 guests were invited to the party.
"It was a quiet and casual party, not the typical celebrity 1st birthday blowout with vendors and other celebrity guests," an insider revealed to Us Weekly. "It looked like it was just their simple style and more about family and close friends coming together to celebrate Esmeralda."
The 34-year-old actor and the 41-year-old actress relied on their loved ones in planning Esmeralda's first birthday party. According to their source, Ryan's sister was in charge of the birthday cake while Eva's mom and sister fixed the venue.
It seems that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes didn't invite any famous celebrity to baby Esmeralda's birthday party because most of the guests were from the actress' side. "Some people brought wrapped gifts, including clothes and toys," the insider revealed. "One guest arrived carrying a rocking horse, and another had colorful plastic balls to fill a ball pit."
During an interview with Glam Belleza Latina, the brunette beauty joked about how her family tends to take over their house each time they visit.
"They take my baby! They start cleaning everything," Mendes laughingly said.
"They sound like a bunch of hyenas, yelling in Spanish, English, Spanglish. They sing [my daughter] all these Cuban nursery songs that I forgot my mom used to know...I'm so happy that my little girl gets to grow up with this," she added.
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are very private when it comes to their relationship and their baby. In fact, no one has ever seen what Esmeralda Amada looked like because they managed to keep the paparazzi away from their daughter.
"The Place Behind The Pines" co-stars decided to keep their baby away from the media as early as her pregnancy.
"Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it's unfair but that's our reality," Eva told Violet Grey. "So Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could."
