Andrew Garfield To Do Another ‘Spider-Man’ Movie? He Felt Pressured But Is Up For The Challenge

| By

Andrew Garfield may no longer be the face of Spider-Man, but many people seem to be more interested in him than the new actor Tom Holland.

The 32-year-old actor who starred in "The Amazing Spider-Man" films has been very open about his experience doing the two movies and has shared his thoughts about the upcoming reboot.

During a recent interview with Playlist, the British heartthrob hinted that he is ready to do another "Spider-Man" movie. "With a film like [The Amazing Spider-Man], there's so much projection and expectation that is inherent in taking on a story and character like that," Garfield said as reported by Indiewire.

"I was well up for the challenge, and I still am. I'm not going to shy away from something that a lot of people are going to see. Fuck it, bring it on, life's short," he added.

Unfortunately, Marvel and Sony decided to cast 19-year-old Tom Holland for Peter Parker since the setting of the reboot will be in high school.

There were rumors coming out that Andrew Garfield was bitter because he didn't get the role, but that is not the case. Emma Stone's boyfriend admitted that he felt relieved that he won't do another 'Spider-Man' movie.

"The pressure to get it right, to please everyone... it's not going to happen...You end up pleasing no one, or everyone just a little bit," he told Playlist.

"[The films are] mass-marketed, like 'We want 50-year-old white men to love it, gay teenagers to love it, bigot homophobes in Middle America to love it, 11-year-old girls to love it.' That's canning Coke," the Los Angeles-born actor explained. "So that aspect of it was a bummer."

Andrew Garfield may be ready to face the challenge of doing another "Spider-Man" movie, but he isn't keen on portraying a more commercialized Peter Parker.

"It was about authenticity, flavor, and truth, but at the same time, I understand people want to make a lot of money, and they're going to spend a lot of money so the playpen can be as big as it was," he said. "I can't live that way; it sounds like a prison, to be honest, living within those expectations."
