2015 Nissan Titan Features Wider Model Range, and Engine Choices

| By

The 2015 Nissan Titan pickup truck will contend with the Ford F-150, according to edmunds.com.

The vehicle has been re-designed, and has a bigger model, and selection of engine choices as shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show Edmunds reported. Nissan North America vice president of product and advanced planning and strategy Pierre Loing told Edmunds he expects sales to increase 460 percent.

"Reaching 100,000 is certainly possible," he said. "We believe there might be a recipe to grab some of this huge segment."

Nissan's new truck is the result of difficult in sales beginning in 2003 Edmunds reported. The company sold 87,000 in their most productive year of 2005. This number has declined since then especially in 2012 when the company sold 21,576 titan trucks compared to Ford's F-Series selling 645,316.

According to Edmunds, 2012 combined sales for Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge Ram, Toyota, and Nissan totaled 1.6 million units. Loing also said Nissan wants to cater and bring in customers from all backgrounds, especially in a market which other car companies have been successful with.

"It is domestic driven," Loing told Edmunds "High loyalty to domestic products. So the question is, 'Why bother?' It is still a huge segment. Whether it is through build quality, equipment, some price advantage, you name it, it may work. We will try again."

Nissan's new vehicle has two models available in an extended cab, and crew cab available at a lower price. A third option of a regular cab is also a future goal. According to Edmunds, the new trucks will be good for fuel economy. They will be equipped with parts to lower weight and other technical digs like cylinder deactivation.
