Larry Mench Becomes Tim Hortons Cake and Bake Shop New Vice President

Larry Mench has become Tim Hortons Cake and Bake Shop new vice president of U.S. operations according to restaurantnews.com.

"Larry is a hands-on and passionate executive operations leader," Tim Horton executive vice president Mike Meilleur told Restaurant News "He comes to us with a wealth of experience to draw upon in order to continue to grow the brand in the U.S."

Mench has over 30 years of experience in the fast-food restaurant business Restaurant News reported.

According to Restaurant News, Mench had a major part in the franchise development and operations of Five Guys Enterprises as the company spread throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.

Mench was also Director of Operations of Zeppe's, Director of Human Resources and Training with Arby's franchisee RTM Restaurant Group, and a business consultant with McDonald's Restaurant News reported.

Mench brings more than 30 years of restaurant industry experience in the quick-serve and fast-casual categories to the chain's U.S. operations. Mench most recently worked with an organization that operates multi-units. During his time with the organization, Mench led a team responsible for putting in new systems and controls based off of many restaurant ideas.

Tim Horton's offers many items to meet customers' needs including premium coffee, espresso-based beverages, specialty teas, home-style soups, sandwiches, grilled paninis, wraps, hot breakfast sandwiches, and baked goods including the company's infamous donut. The chain currently has new single-serve coffee cups, and a new donut in the tortoise torte according to the company website. The company's new extreme Italian sandwich is also available the company said on its website.

As of June 30, the restaurant chain currently had 807 restaurants throughout the United States Restaurant News reported. According to Restaurant News, Mench graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, and lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Keely, and three college-age children.
