Netflix Plans to Enter Singapore in Early 2016, Will Launch in Three More Asian Markets

| By

Netflix, Inc. has announced that it will be expanding its Internet television network services to Singapore in early 2016, according to a press release issued by Netflix.

The company will also be launching in other countries in Asia, particularly South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

ZDNet adds that Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix, said that Singapore will find much to love about the service that Netflix provides.

"As the central hub in Southeast Asia, Singapore is a sophisticated and diverse place that will find much to love about the Netflix service," he said.

ZDNet added that the company will also be opening an office in the country to support its 2016 expansion in Asia.

Netflix is aiming to complete its global rollout by the end of next year.

The company said in the press release that once they launch their services, Internet users will be able to subscribe to Netflix and instantly watch a curated selection of popular TV shows and movies.

These TV shows and movies will be available in high-definition or Ultra HD 4K on nearly any Internet connection screen.

"The combination of increasing Internet speeds and ubiquity of connected devices provides consumers with the anytime, anywhere ability to enjoy their favorite TV shows and movies on the Netflix service," Hastings said in the press release.

He added that these trends will be well represented by the four Asian countries that they will be launching to.

Netflix will be available to launch on smart TVs, tablets and smartphones, computers, and a range of Internet-capable game consoles and set-top boxes, according to the press release.

More information about the pricing, available programming, and supported devices will be posted by Netflix on a later date.

The Internet network television service first became available in Asia earlier this month, according to the press release.

The company's service became available in Japan on September 2, 2015.
