Jack In The Box Chairman And CEO, Linda Lang, To Retire In January; Company To Promote Internally

Jack in the Box Chairman and CEO Linda Lang will be retiring Jan. 1 when current President and Chief Operating Officer Leonard Comma takes over duties the company said in a release.

Lang said she's happy with what she's done, and is looking forward to what Comma has in store for the company.

"I'm proud of my accomplishments and grateful for the tremendous support and commitment of our employees, franchisees and business partners who have worked so hard to achieve the transformation of our business," Lang said in a statement. "I'm excited to see Lenny succeed me as Chairman and CEO.

"His extraordinary leadership skills, along with a great executive team that includes new Qdoba President Tim Casey, will enable the company to execute its strategic plan and continue its strong performance," she said

Lang has served in a variety of different roles since becoming part of the company in 1984. She's been involved with marketing, operations, finance, and officer-level positions beginning in 1996.

Lang moved up to president and chief operating officer in 2003 and to company chairman and CEO in 2005.

The soon to be retiree is also on the board of directors for WD-40, San Diego State University's College of Business Administration, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, and member of the Corporate Directors Forum.

Comma started with Jack In the Box in 2001 as director of convenience and fuel operations for the company's Quick Stuff convenience store chain - sold in 2009, and is currently in charge of operations for Jack in the Box locations along with new menu items, marketing communications, consumer insights and analytics, and internal brand communications.

He was the corporation's division vice president of Quick Stuff Operations from 2004-2006 when he then became its regional vice president for over 150 restaurants in Southern California.

2007 saw Comma become vice president of operations for its second division supervising over 1200 restaurants.

In February 2010, Comma began as the company's vice president and chief operating officer before moving up to the position he currently holds last May.

Before Jack in the Box, Comma regionally managed over 300 ExxonMobil locations including those in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
