Taco Bell Menu: Company Expands New Waffle Taco Breakfast To More States

| By

Taco Bell is expanding its test of its new waffle taco breakfast to 100 sites in Fresno, Calif,; Omaha, Neb.; and Chattanooga, Tenn. with hopes of officially establishing its breakfast menu nationally next year, according to the Associated Press.

The company found success with the food item earlier this year at five restaurants in Southern California and is now interested to see how the product fairs in other markets.

"You only get one shot when you go with big items," Taco Bell president, Brian Niccol told the AP.

The franchise currently offers breakfast at about 850 locations in 10 states throughout the country, and has been experimenting with new items to put on the menu before going full force at its 6,000 United States locations.

Customers near the additional locations can also look forward to trying the company's yogurt parfait and oatmeal on Thursday as the company seeks to introduce these items in addition to the waffle taco breakfast.

According to the AP, the taco's form has been altered to allow people to better hold its ingredients since March's initial introduction.

The last time Taco Bell adjusted its breakfast options was in August 2012, when it expanded its breakfast options also known as "FirstMeal" with the a.m. crunch wrap to give customers more for their money, and "to-go" choices in the morning, according to information on the company website.

The menu is available in at least 815 participating restaurants in 10 western states including California, Arizona and Colorado the company said. Tuesday's news is one of the many developments from a restaurant chain vying to increase sales during times when business might be slow in order to fund rent and electricity.

One method: The "Happier Hour," offers loaded grillers, freezes, sparklers, and medium drinks for only one dollar from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
