Andrew Garfield, who starred in "The Amazing Spider-Man" film series, has finally opened up about his feelings on the reboot.
Sony and Marvel announced their tie-up a few months ago and revealed that they chose someone else to portray Peter Parker.
According to the studio, they were looking for a vibrant and talented young actor - and they feel that Tom Holland can bring Spider-Man's story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During an interview with UPROXX, the 32-year-old actor revealed that he's happy that Sony collaborated with Marvel in the reboot.
"I'm really, really grateful for the whole ride of it," Garfield admitted. "And I'm really excited for the next one." Not many people know that the British heartthrob was partly responsible for the tie-up of the two studios.
"I've been petitioning to hook up with Marvel since the beginning, so I'm really glad they're finally doing it," Andrew revealed.
The website asked Emma Stone's boyfriend if Marvel ever asked him to reprise his role as Peter Parker in the "Spider-Man" reboot. He tried his best to answer the sensitive question.
"No. To be honest [pauses], all the ins and outs of what happened is a more tender conversation that maybe I don't want to talk about in public in a press situation," Garfield confessed and tried to change the sad tone of his voice. "But all I can say is that I'm stoked to go and watch a Marvel film of Spider-Man."
Despite not getting the "Spider-Man" gig with Marvel and the cancellation of "The Amazing Spider-Man 3", the Hollywood superstar managed to talk about the plot of the supposedly third installment which will be written by Alex Kurtzman.
"We thought to kind of start from the base level, the foundational level of where have we left Peter and where do we want to see him go and what's logical. And how do we build upon where we left off with this deep, desperate moment with Gwen?" he shared.
"So, yeah, we got to some pretty heavy places and I was really excited to kind of explore it and be involved on the ground level like that. But, anyway, it wasn't meant to be. As I say, I'm just really excited that I get to watch," Andrew Garfield added.
The untitled "Spider-Man" reboot is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017 and filming will begin in June 2016 as reported by wikia.
