Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and her husband Mike McCuddy are expecting a baby.
The couple were married in 2009 and have had faced numerous fertility issues, as well as failed IVF attempts.
The songwriter and her husband, Mike McCuddy, are expecting a son via a gestational surrogate in the next few weeks, and they have already chosen a name for the baby.
DioGuardi, who recently sold her $6.3 million mansion in Los Angeles to spend more time on the East Coast, has already revealed the name of her soon-to-born son - Peyton James.
The award-winning songstress celebrated the imminent arrival with a joint baby shower at her $3 million dollar home in New York, held with a close friend who is also expecting.
She tells People.com, "We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy."
DioGuardi is known for her songwriting work away from American Idol. She has also written hit songs for Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
In her memoir 'A Helluva High Note' DioGuardi , DioGuardi revealed she had left the show in 2010 in part because of her desire to start a family.
'I'd like to have a baby. I'm trying to work that one out. I don't know - I've been having a lot of sex but it's not working!' DioGuardi revealed in 2011.
Now DioGuardi's dream is set to come true with the arrival of her son next month. 'Kara and Mike can't wait to see their little boy,' the source told the Enquirer. 'Kara has waited such a long time to be a mom, and now she's finally getting her wish.'
