Domino's Japan Offers Pricey Kobe Beef Steak Pizza

| By

The pizza chain's stores in Japan sell a large pizza with Kobe beef, a delicacy in the country, for 5,800 yen (about US$66). Additional toppings include onions, potatoes, steak sauce and cheese.

RocketNews24, the website that previously embarked on journalistic endeavors like eating a Whopper with 1,050 strips of bacon and another with 1,000 slices of cheese, went ahead and ordered one. It writes that they were overall pleased with the flavor.

The Domino's Japan website reveals that this pizza is available for the first time ever - and only through mid-January.

RocketNews24 admits that "it is conceivable that avid pizza fans may be left feeling that they have nibbled on great beef on a pizza base rather than a great pizza with beef."

But while it's certainly an expensive pizza, it's not quite as crazy as past iterations: Last year's Quattro Prestige was made up of four segments with toppings like snow crab and shrimp gratin, Mangalitsa pork with Bordeaux sauce and more. And elsewhere in the world Pizza Hut Singapore recently unveiled a totally insane pizza-within-a-pizza.
