Taco Bell could be hinting at an upcoming addition to its menu with a split picture of a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and a taco.
The brand's Facebook and Twitter pages both included a photo of a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos alongside a taco with the comment: "Anything could happen in 2013."
In 2012 Taco Bell partnered with Doritos to release the "Dorito's Loco Taco". A regular crunchy taco in a Dorito's chip shell. According to Taco Bell spokesman Rob Poetsch the new tacos were much bigger than their previous hit the Crunch Wrap Supreme of 2005.
Now the company may be ready to produce a sequel.
It's no surprise the Cool Ranch flavored Doritos Locos Taco could be in the works. In August, the Orange County Register reported that Taco Bell was testing out other flavors of the Locos Tacos shell, including Cool Ranch. Also Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed openly talked about adding two new Taco Bell dishes in 2013.
"The runway for [Doritos Locos Tacos] is massive," the Associated Press quoted Creed as saying.
Other changes coming to the Taco Bell brand in 2013 Creed said included a new snack menu advertised as "Happier Hour" and new contract terms to encourage franchise expansion.
