There have been rumors coming out that Chris Pine will headline the "Green Lantern" reboot.
The speculations started when Umberto Gonzales posted a photo of the "Star Trek" actor and Green Lantern on Instagram. "Hot rumor! #GreenLantern update!
The name I keep hearing & floating around, is Chris Pine for Hal Jordan. Yes, Captain Kirk. Again, this is still just a rumor hence unconfirmed," the fanboy wrote.
Ryan Reynolds, who played Hal Jordan in the 2011 movie, hinted that he isn't willing to do another sequel - which means that the search is still on for the next Green Lantern.
Most fans think that Chris Pine will be perfect for the role, but the producers think otherwise.
According to new reports, the 34-year-old actor ditched the reboot for another big project. The Wrap reported that Chris Pine has closed a deal to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in "Wonder Woman."
The website also revealed that the screen heartthrob has signed a multi-picture deal with DC Movie Universe.
Apart from playing Gal Gadot's love interest in "Wonder Woman" which will be released in 2017, Pine has been very busy with his future films such as "Star Trek Beyond" on 2016 and "Star Trek 4" and 2019. The actor can be seen next in "Z for Zachariah" on Aug. 28, 2015.
According to The Wrap, Steve Trevor will be no mere love interest for Gadot's Diana Prince, as there will be plenty of action to keep him busy, though plot details remain under wraps.
The DC movie will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Patty Jenkins who is famous for her work in "Monster." The film starred Charlize Theron, Christina Ricci, and Bruce Dern.
Since Chris Pine is reportedly the leading man in "Wonder Woman," then the lead role in "Green Lantern" remains open to all actors.
One actor who showed great interest in appearing in the reboot is Tyrese Gibson. The "Furious 7" star has been posting images and fan-made artworks of him wearing the green suit.
He also hinted the possibility of playing John Stewart in the "Green Lantern" reboot.
"There are certain things I can't speak on," Tyrese Gibson told ET! Online. "But I will say, however this works out, it's definitely the fans' fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it."
