People who attended Warner Brothers' panel at the San Diego Comic-Con were thrilled when DC Cinematic Universe confirmed that they are making a "Green Lantern" reboot. In fact, they already revealed its official title which is "Green Lantern Corps," but hasn't revealed yet the cast of the movie.
However, an image appeared as they announced the reboot and the character looked like Chris Pine, which started out rumors that he already got the role.
"Odds are that he'll be Hal Jordan, but we don't know for sure," MTV reported. The website also confirmed that the release date of the new "Green Lantern" movie will be on 2020.
The rumors started back in March when Umberto Gonzalez posted a photo collage of Chris Pine and Green Lantern.
"HOT RUMOR! #GREENLANTERN UPDATE! The name I keep hearing & floating around, is Chris Pine for Hal Jordan. Yes, Captain Kirk. Again, this is still just a RUMOR hence UNCONFIRMED," he wrote on Instagram.
Ryan Reynolds, who starred in the first "Green Lantern" movie back in 2011, has hinted that he won't be doing a sequel. MTV asked him if he's willing to appear as Hal Jordan in the "Justice League" film. "Possible - but not likely," the 38-year-old actor said.
Apart from Chris Pine, Tyrese Gibson is also rumored to be starring in the reboot. The "Furious 7" actor has been teasing his followers on Instagram by posting photos of him wearing the green suit. Just recently, he was caught wearing a "Green Lantern" logo socks while promoting his latest album.
"Long.....Long week..promoting my album #BlackRose to #1 on the TOP 200 of Billboard I took #TheOath....In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!! The call is coming soon...... The passionate fans of the Green Lantern.... Thank you for your energy and love.... Never mind those are some fancy socks my daughter brought aha!" he wrote on Instagram.
Last month, Tyrese Gibson was asked what his thoughts are about the "Green Lantern" rumors. "There are certain things I can't speak on," he told ET! Online.
"But I will say, however this works out, it's definitely the fans' fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it."
There is a possibility that both Chris Pine and Tyrese Gibson will star in "Green Lantern Corps" since they are an intergalactic police force that patrols the 3600 sectors of the universe based on DC Wikia.
