'Gotham' Season 2 Release Date And Spoiler News: Joker Fans Will Be Happy Says Ben McKenzie: EP Says It Will Be Satisfying

| By

"Gotham" season 2 release date should happen now, at least for Joker fans. The Crowned Prince of Crime is someone that has been foreshadowed many times in the first season of the Batman-prequel show.

The closest fans got was Cameron Monaghan's Jerome Valeska in the episode "The Blind Fortune Teller." Jerome was dubbed as the "Proto-Joker" in the show but was never really mentioned as the real one. He is the son of a Haly's Circus snake dancer, whom he killed for being an "insistent, nagging whore."

In "Gotham" season 2, the Joker will not only be foreshadowed, he will be there until the end of the season.

"I think for fans of Joker... I think you're going to be very happy," Ben McKenzie, who plays Det. Jim Gordon, said in an interview with IGN during last week's San Diego Comic-Con.

Executive producer Bruno Heller also confirmed that the menacing villain will play valuable role in the show. In fact, "Gotham" season 2 will tell how the Joker happened.

"The story we're telling is absolutely the story of how the Joker came to be. More than that I can't tell you because I've not yet formulated a clever J.J. Abrams type of way of telling you the truth but avoiding the spoiler," he revealed.

"It's a storyline that plays out over the whole season," Heller said adding, "and at the end of the season, all Joker fans are going to go, 'Ahh, what a brilliant, brilliant idea,' or... Greek finance minister will be my next job."

When "Gotham" season 2 release date comes, the Joker is not the only villain fans should watch out for. There is Tigress, Mr. Freeze, and Mad Hatter. The arrival of more bad guys other than new Gotham king Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) will bring more trouble for the citizens and more work for Det. Gordon.

"In some senses, if season one was the origins of Gotham as a city ruled by crime families, then season two starts to explore the rise of the villains," McKenzie said in an interview with Comicbook.com.

"And this villains are much more malicious than the crime families. The crime families actually wanted law and order, because that lead to money. But with these new guys, the wheels fall off and it's anarchy. To combat that, there has to be an arms race. The good guys have to arm up."

"Gotham" season 2 release date is September 21.
