"Ghostbusters 3" director Paul Feig recently shared the first group photo of the female lead stars on Twitter. The photo featured Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon in their uniform and carrying their proton packs. The iconic Ecto-1 car was also behind them with the classic logo of the Ghostbusters.
These women seemed like they are ready to bust some ghosts.
Fans were thrilled when they saw the first set photo of the female ghostbusters.
"This looks insane," @ThePatrickk commented on the photo.
"Bad ass ladies getting things under control," @Krakenstein wrote.
"I showed my 5-year-old daughter a photo of them and her eyes lit up: 'They're girls!!!' @themattmcd shared.
Before the first group photo of the female ghostbusters were revealed, Paul Feig teased the fans by posting the items that they will see in "Ghostbusters 3." First it was their uniform, followed by the proton pack and then the Ecto-1.
Unfortunately, the 52-year-old director wasn't the first one to reveal the first set photos of "Ghostbusters 3." Behind-the-scenes photos of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Lelise Jones, and Kate McKinnon leaked online. Check out the pictures from BuzzFeed.
Paul Feig's plan to make a reboot instead of a sequel or remake had received mixed reactions from fans. Some were pleased about seeing a female version of "Ghostbusters" while others prefer seeing the original cast, which consists of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson, return for a third installment.
Despite the criticisms, the "Bridesmaids" director is confident that the lead stars will do a great job. "I'm excited! Those four ladies I have starring in it are so funny and that's half the battle. Feig told Empire Podcast.
"I'm going to battle with the best army I have. My whole crew from all my other movies have come aboard, and some great special effects people have come aboard - I have never really done this level of effects before - and I'm excited!" he added.
"Ghostbusters 3" is scheduled for release on July 22, 2016. The movie also stars Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Mark Burzenski.
