After announcing their divorce, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner decided to go on a vacation with their kids. The 42-year-old actor and the 43-year-old actress shocked the whole world when they confirmed that they are ending their 10-year marriage.
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding," the couple said in a joint statement as reported by PEOPLE.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have three children together namely Violet (9), Seraphina (6) and Samuel (3). It's good to know that they are living up to their word as they are reportedly spending time in their home at the Bahamas.
"They got the kids out of L.A. as soon as school was out," an insider told Us Weekly. "[The Bahamas] is a place they've been going to for years that's very private and special for their kids. When either of them have had work commitments, they have been leaving to go fulfill them."
The website also reported that the former Hollywood couple will be living separately but still in the Brentwood area. They are allegedly trying the "conscious uncoupling" technique made famous by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. Despite having new relationships - Gwyneth dating "Glee" writer Brad Falchuk and Chris going out with "The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence, the couple remains good friends.
"They are going to try and model their divorce like Gwyneth and Chris," their insider said."They feel like they have to be mature adults for their children's sake and that they will figure out the healthiest way to co-parent. They want the kids' lives to stay the same and to not have to change just because they aren't going to be married anymore," their source added.
