"Gotham" season 2 release date is set at September 21 of this year.
When that date comes, fans will be greeted by a number of villains, or maybe in the next few episodes. Earlier spoilers revealed the sophomore run of the Batman-prequel series from Fox will introduce at least two new villains.
This means Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will have his hands full in protecting the city. Criminals are born from all directions in Gotham and there are only few incorruptible citizens who are ready to provide a helping hand. Right now, all Jim has are Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Harvey Dent (Nicholas D'Agosto).
GCPD might not have to wait long enough to receive a reinforcement. In "Gotham" season 2, one of Jim's future, formidable allies will officially start his journey to becoming the Dark Knight.
According to David Mazouz, his character Bruce Wayne will start his transformation in the second season. He did not indicate though whether it will be seen in the first episode when "Gotham" season 2 release date hits.
"He's on a mission and he really is going to start his dual personality into being Batman," Mazouz said in an interview with Monkeys Fighting Robots. "When he's Batman there is his Batman side and then his public persona which is his playboy/party boy persona. In Season Two, he's really going to start developing that second persona and he's gonna start having that and developing that without fear. I think it's really cool."
Mazouz added what people will see is not "Batman as a kid" but rather "a boy who lost his parents, and who is grieving and who is dark" who will eventually become the Dark Knight. Of course, fans can't expect young Bruce Wayne to lurk in the dark alleys of Gotham just yet. In the comic book, he went on to travel around the world as as a teen to master different martial arts and prepare himself for the rigorous job of a vigilante.
Among the popular Batman villains expected to be seen in "Gotham" season 2 are Dr. Freeze, Mad Hatter, and Tigress. Currently in the show are the young versions of the Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, and the Riddler.
