Paul Feig has been getting a lot of haters for the female version of "Ghostbusters 3," but what's important is that he is getting the support of the original cast.
During an interview with Extra, Dan Aykroyd was asked what he thinks of the reboot.
"Oh man, it's hot," the veteran actor said. "I read the script and those girls are gonna kill it."
The actor, who played Ray Stantz in the first two "Ghostbusters" films, is referring to Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.
"It's gonna introduce a whole new generation of females," Aykroyd said. "We need women Ghostbusters, so you'll have a bunch of kids there who've never seen it before and they're gonna see it and go back and watch the other two, and so that's a great way to keep it alive."
Ernie Hudson, who starred as Winston Zeddemore in the original movie, also shared his thoughts on the all female cast of "Ghostbusters 3."
"I was doing a red carpet event and someone asked me about that and I said 'I didn't think it was what the fans were expecting,'" the 69-year-old actor told The Des Moines Register.
"Now that it is definitely happening, I think it's great that they are moving forward with the franchise however they choose to," he further explained. "I'm just glad that they are doing a good movie and a funny movie."
Ernie Hudson also hinted that this reboot could never replace the first two films.
"I think the series could have been many movies, but for whatever reason the studio got bogged down and never made it happen," he said. "I want it to be a good movie, but you can never redo the first movies."
There are rumors coming out that Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray will make a cameo in the Paul Feig's female version of "Ghostbusters." Could the 69-year-old director also join the two actors?
"I did talk to Ivan Reitman, the producer and director of the first two movies, so I know it's happening, but I haven't officially been offered any role in it. I would love to do it if they offer," Ernie Hudson said.
Find out if the original cast will make a cameo in "Ghostbusters 3" on July 22, 2016.
