How does gender change affect what's inside Jenner's pocket?
Gender shift surgery could shake Jenner's savings. Forbes author Tonny Nitti said that Caitlyn Jenner's decision to undergo surgery is extremely expensive, but can be tax deductible if diagnosed as a disease. Allegedly afflicted with Gender Identity Disorder (GID) since eight years old, Jenner can be allowed to take a certain minimum from the total cost of a full-blown gender change, which includes genital replacement.
Tagged as serious mental illness by the American Psychiatric Association, GID is the existence of a convincing belief that one is wired to have the opposite gender and anatomical makeup from what one is born with, paving the way for social isolation and depression.
For tax deduction to apply in this context, Jenner must prove that GID is indeed an ailment that can be cured through gender transformation and medical hormone treatment. The surgery must not serve any aesthetic purpose.
But, media boosted Jenner's net value. According to OK! Magazine, Caitlyn Jenner's current net worth might be $100,000,000. Three years ago, Jenner was charging media channels $40,000 per appearance as an inspirational speaker. This is estimated to dramatically increase now that Jenner has become a cultural icon in the LGBTQ community.
In the reality TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Jenner was already earning $35,000 per episode. With the world's positive reception to Jenner's transformation, he would definitely receive a greater salary in her upcoming E! reality series I Am Cait that will be launched on July 26, 2015.
Million-dollar endorsements would be knocking at Jenner's doorstep. Forbes predicts that companies that want Jenner to be their brand ambassador would have to pay millions of dollars to get lucky.
"As an inspirational image for the LGBT community, she could be used by a brand to appeal to this billion dollar market," Forbes writer Madeline Berg said.
