‘Spectre’ Will Be The Last James Bond Movie From Sony? Tom Rothman Says That The Fight For Film Rights Will Be Fierce! Who Will Replace Daniel Craig?

| By

Sony Pictures recently revealed that "Spectre" could be their last James Bond movie. The sequel that stars Daniel Craig will be released in November 6 and that will mark the end of the studio's multi-picture contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

The pact between Sony and MGM has produced several top-grossing films including "Skyfall", "Casino Royale", and "Quantum of Solace".

Unfortunately, their partnership has come to an end. "James Bond may bring his license to kill to another Hollywood studio after a lucrative stint at Sony Pictures," sources told Variety.

The website reported that Warner Bros. is most likely to get the film rights since they already have a close relationship with MGM.

"MGM chief Gary Barber and Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara could result in the super-spy shifting addresses to the Burbank studio," Variety reported.

The two production company has worked together on several blockbuster movies such as the "Hobbit" trilogy, "Hot Pursuit", and "Creed". Sony Pictures' motion picture group chairman, Tom Rothman, revealed that the fight for the film rights to the James Bond franchise will be fierce.

"The reality is that Sony's had a fantastic run with the Bonds," he said. "Sure we're going to compete for (the rights), but let's be honest, so is everybody in the business." Rothman admitted that they extended their contract for "Skyfall" and "Spectre" in exchange for giving MGM the rights to invest in "Total Recall" and "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."

Since "Spectre" may be the last James Bond for Sony, Tom Rothman assured fans that the film will be as awesome as "Skyfall." "This Bond is going to be great and...hopefully we'll do as good a job as we did on the last one," he said.

If in case the James Bond film rights go to Warner Bros. or any other studio, then there could also be a chance that Daniel Craig will be replaced by a new actor.

What Culture shared their list of actors who are suited to become the next 007 agent. Included in the list are Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead), Sam Worthington (Avatar), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (The Avengers: Age of Ultron), and Jon Hamm (Mad Men).
