Daniel Craig headlines "Spectre" but the real superstars of James Bond 24 are the supercars and some of them will be first seen in the movie. Car enthusiasts were thrilled to see the latest clip of the film because it featured two spectacular cars chasing through the streets of Rome.
The video showcased the Aston Martin DB10 driven by James Bond (Daniel Craig) and the Jaguar C-X75 driven by Mr. Hinx (Dave Bautista). According to Business Insider, the Aston Martin DB10 is the latest in the long line of James Bond Astons, with roots going all the way back to Sean Connery's DB5 in the 1964 film "Goldfinger."
The website also reported that Aston Martin DB10 was designed and built based on the input of the producers and director Sam Mendes. "It's never been done like this before," Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman said. "For a movie character to have a major manufacturer create a car just for him is really quite special." The new supercar was built only for the movie, which means that it won't be available in the market.
The Jaguar C-X75, on the other hand, received Autoweek's "Best Show" award when it was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2010. "This will be the finest looking and most innovative Jaguar ever created," Jaguar head designer Ian Callum said. "Even in the world of supercars, we can still produce the most beautiful."
Just like the Aston Martin DB10, Jaguar's hybrid supercar was also modified for James Bond 24. Sources told Autocar that they removed the vehicle's 800 horsepower hybrid powertrain and replaced it with a trusty 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 engine.
In the new clip of "Spectre", Daniel Craig's Aston Martin DB10 and Dave Bautista's Jaguar C-X75 goes head to head. "It's a cat and mouse game through the night-time streets of Rome at great speed with two of the fastest cars in the world, neither of which you've ever seen before," Sam Mendes said.
Dave Bautista also expressed how much excited he was with their car chase scene. "It's amazing. It's one of those scenes that's going to be very iconic," the 46-year-old actor said. "Just with these two cars racing on the streets of Rome... it's one of those things you'll only see in a James Bond film," he added.
