2014 Corvette on Sales Jan. 13, Chevrolet Reveals New Logo

| By

The 2014 Corvette sports car will debut on Jan. 13 during press previews for the Detroit auto show, Chevrolet announced Friday.

The new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette will be the seventh generation of the uniquely American sports car in six decades. Chevrolet debuted the updated "Crossed Flags" logo at Road Atlanta, where 77 class wins, 8 driver's championships, and nine manufacturer and team championships since 2001 have made Corvette Racing the most successful team in ALMS history.

The 2014 Corvette will have just two carry-over parts from the current model, GM spokesman Monte Doran said according to the CS Monitor. The interior cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel.

"With this car, because it's such a dramatic change, we felt like the best thing to do was to halt production so we could completely overhaul the interior of (the) Bowling Green (plant) to get ready for the new car," he said.

GM last year announced a $131 million investment in the plant, along with plans to add about 250 jobs.

The 2012 Corvette will include a smaller, lighter aluminum V8 engine displacing around 5.5 liters, advanced features such as direction injection, cylinder cutoff and variable valve timing, and a new seven-speed manual transmission for improved fuel economy.

Prices, due to be announced next summer, are expected to range from just under $55,000 for the base model to nearly $120,000 for the top-of-the-line Corvette ZR1.
