Marvel’s Stan Lee Defends ‘Fantastic Four’ Star Michael B. Jordan From All The Haters! Other Cast Members Were Affected By Negative Criticisms? ‘Just Wanted To Change People's Perception’

| By

Many people were shocked when they found out that Michael B. Jordan will be playing the role of the blonde-haired, blue-eyed superhero named Johnny Storm or also known as the Human Torch in the "Fantastic Four" reboot.

That role was portrayed by Chris Evans (Captain America: Civil War) in the 2005 film and many people think he was perfect for that character.

Most fans were expecting another white guy to play the superhero, but instead it was given to a black actor which started the racism issues.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Michael B. Jordan admitted that he isn't that bothered anymore about all the negative criticisms.

"I can see everybody's perspective, and I know I can't ask the audience to forget 50 years of comic books," he explained. "But the world is a little more diverse in 2015 than when the 'Fantastic Four' comic first came out in 1961."

Jordan also namedropped one of the most influential names in Marvel, who is responsible for the newfound confidence that currently has. "Plus, if Stan Lee writes an email to my director saying, 'You're good. I'm okay with this', who am I to go against that?" he said.

According to the controversial "Fantastic Four" actor, the former Marvel Comics president ended his letter with a note to the haters,

"To the trolls on the Internet, I want to say, 'Get your head out of the computer. Go outside and walk around. Look at the people walking next to you. Look at your friends' friends and who they're interacting with. And just understand this is the world we live in. It's okay to like it'."

Apart from Michael B. Jordan, other cast members Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic) and Kate Mara (The Invisible Woman) admitted that they also received a lot of negative criticisms as reported by Mirror. "I was very surprised at first, before any trailers were out, how negative people were without seeing anything," the 32-year-old actress said.

The star of "Whiplash" agreed with Kate and said, "That is true. A lot of just unwarranted hate..." Michael B. Jordan revealed during a separate interview with MTV that he and the other cast members of the "Fantastic Four" reboot accepted the famous roles because of the vision of director Josh Trank.

"I just knew he wanted to do something completely different. Tonally he wanted it to be more grounded, a little more gritty, a little darker," the28-year-old actor said. "Just wanted to... not erase the thought, but change people's perception of the 'Fantastic Four,' based upon previous tries."
