| By

Lululemon Athletica announced its holiday quarter results on Thursday, mentioning that sales increased by 16 percent, despite shipping delays and inclement weather which are both said to have contributed to previous unfavorable sales.

The yoga-gear producer has also been challenged with drops in sales in Canada and Australia , where approximately 25 percent of its business hails from, due to the recent weakening of their respective currencies.

"Our solid performance in the fourth quarter builds on the momentum that began in the third quarter and reflects improved traffic and a strong guest response," Lululemon Chief Executive Officer Laurent Potdevin said in a statement.

"2014 was a critical year when we strengthened our leadership team and made important investments in our product pipeline, guest experience, brand and community engagement. In 2015, we expect to substantially complete this foundational work and accelerate our investments in innovation to drive sustainable global growth as we continue to lead the market that we created."

Lululemon's net revenue for the holiday quarter rose 16 percent from $521 million to $602.5 million. Additionally, total comparable sales boosted by 8 percent for the same quarter.

Following news of the company's sales increase, shares also increased by 7 percent in mid-day trading.

The yoga producer is currently focused on promoting its "Sea Me Run" campaign, which is marketed as land-to-sea gear.

Lululemon was founded in 1998 in Vancouver, Canada.
