Dish Network announced on Monday that Chief Executive Joe Clayton will retire on March 31 and step down from his position, CNBC reports.
The company's founder and Chairman Charlie Ergen is expected to take over after Clayton's departure.
Dish Network's change of leadership has also brought attention to the company's declining revenue and television subscriptions. Its recently-reported quarterly revenue was much shorter than had been anticipated in previous estimates and the company lost over 63,000 paid subscribers in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2014.
"Dish hasn't grown its subscriber base in six years and in most business falling subscribership means falling margins as well," MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett said, according to CNBC.
"But today's results were better on margins."
Clayton began working with Dish Network in 2011 after Ergen stepped down from his Chief Executive Officer position. Ergen, however, continued to work for the company as its Chairman.
Clayton oversaw the creation of a $20-per-month video-streaming service branded toward younger audiences, a sector of the market Dish Network is said to be struggling to win over.
