Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Opening New Store in Carolina

| By

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. is opening up a new store in a former Wendy's restaurant in Carolina.

The doughnut franchise is getting ready to open a 2,800-square-foot store at 119 N. Sharon Amity Road in Cotswold, according to BizJournals.

Construction is underway and has a target date of mid-September to reach completion. The opening is targeted for later that month, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts spokesman Brian Little said.

Accoriding to the report, the location will include a drive-through window, a menu of coffees and espresso drinks, iced beverages and, of course, that Carolina favorite -- the signature hot Original Glazed doughnut.

The Cotswold store will be the first retail location in Charlotte in years for the Winston-Salem-based doughnut maker. A location just across the state line in Indian Land opened in the past year, and the company has five other stores in the region, according to the store locator on its website, in Hickory, Gastonia, Lenoir, Matthews and Salisbury. A Rock Hill store is also planned.

Krispy Kreme has store around the world in India, Russia, Turkey, Philippines, Japan and Thailand. According to the company's website, it operates 694 locations in 21 countries.
