Red Mango Founder To Step Down As Chief Concept Officer; Remains As Advisor

| By

Red Mango, Inc. founder Dan Kim will be stepping from his position chief concept officer but will stay with the company for advisory roles.

Kim plans to start his own consultancy company called DAN.KIM, to be called DAN.KIM&CO in the coming months. It aims to help new companies succeed in the consumer market. The founder also aims to collaborate with colleges and universities to promote and teach innovation.

In a Facebook post, Kim said that after eating frozen yogurt for eight years, it’s time for him to leave the company.

“I'll still be advising Red Mango over the next few months on projects I spearheaded last year for 2015, but will also be aggressively building out my plans for DAN.KIM&CO,” Kim said.

The former CCO said in an interview with Nation’s Restaurant News that he is still working on innovating new flavors for the company. However, he emphasized that most of his time will be spent on his consultancy firm.

DAN&KIM aims to use digital and social media marketing to help new companies grow from the ground up and to achieve their development goals. They will mostly utilize the digital and social ecosystem to promote brands.

Kim said, “I think there’s an opportunity for a consultancy that lives and breathes the principals of today’s Millennial culture, driven by social media.”

Started in South Korea in 2003, Kim brought the frozen yogurt chain Red Mango in the U.S. in 2007. He served as chief executive officer of Red Mango, Inc. until 2011 where he started working as the chief concept officer. In 2010, the brand expanded to include smoothies and the signage changed to “Red Mango: Yogurt and Smoothies.”

Now with 300-unit frozen yogurt chain, Dallas-based BRIX Holdings LLC bought the chain in December, 2009.

Boasting of their 100% natural ingredients, Red Mango is the first frozen yogurt chain certified with the Live & Active Cultures seal by the National Yogurt Association.
