As the year 2014 comes to an end, it would only be appropriate for us to recall the highlights of the technology industry, especially those that are deserving of awards and praises. While there plenty of technologies that have slightly to completely disappointed us, there are still a number of gadgets, equipment, and devices that are truly worth mentioning. Here are three of them.
The Hendo Hoverboard
According to Time, The Hendo Hoverboard is a kind of levitating skateboard. If you have seen the film titled "Back to the Future Part II" which was shown back in the year 1989, then you already have an idea as to what it looks like. Thanks to Hendo, this fictional levitation device is now a reality. It is not perfect though, but there is no doubt that this is one of the best inventions this year.
High-Beta Fusion Reactor
Developed by Lockheed Martin, this technological breakthrough is said to have the power to create compact fusion reactors that are really small in size that a truck won't have a problem carrying one. In order for the reaction process to be controlled, the manufacturer has incorporated a "magnetic mirror confinement" design. It has not been completed yet though, but Lockheed Martin says that it will be within ten years or so. The concept itself is already very impressive, which is probably why the technology has made it to the list of Time Magazine's top 2014 inventions.
PillPack
Last, but not the least is PillPack. According to MIT, it is a "full-service pharmacy" designed specifically for individuals who are taking several kinds of medications. The idea behind the development of this technology was derived from the 2013 MIT Hacking Medicine hackathon. With the benefits that it can provide to people, it definitely deserves the title of being one of the best inventions this year.
