For decades, consumers and the world alike have wanted to know the ingredients to the McDonald's Big Mac secret sauce, and now it has been revealed.
The ingredients were featured in a video released by CBS this past week, where McDonald's executive chef Dan Coudreaut, put together the sauce himself, so that aspiring cooks and burger lovers around the world can make it at home and without having to run to the nearest McDonald's restaurant for a nearly $4 burger.
Coudreaut said the recipe was available online, though finally demonstrated the recipe when a consumer from Ontario simply asked, "What is in the sauce that is in the Big Mac?"
All that's required, according to the video of Coudreaut putting together the famous sauce, is mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, classic yellow mustard, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika, the chef noted in the video released by CBS.
It's the paprika, the chef said, that ""gives it a little flavor but it also helps to enhance the color a little bit."
Just put the ingredients together in a bowl and stir, and the world-famous sauce that has been consumed by millions for decades is created. Combine that, even at home, with two all-beef patties, cheese, onions, pickles, and a sesame-seed bun, and the Big Mac came be made by anyone.
"With food it's either contrasting flavors like sweet and sour," Coudreaut explained, "or its contrasting flavors like tomato and basil. Here with the Big Mac sauce its contrasting flavors."
